I had a great time with the S family at this session. Their little boy D is just a bundle of energy and really kept us hopping! But it was a perfect location for a little boy to throw rocks, run, and explore. Mom wanted some really nice portraits to hang on their walls and I think we succeeded! Sometimes it's good to get out of your comfort zone - which this senior session certainly helped me to do. I consider myself to be a fairly traditional photographer, but this gorgeous girl is full of spunk and fun and so we had to really explore that in her session. We started at a neat barn for some shots of this horse-lover, then moved into an edgier urban location. No matter where K was, her beauty and fun-loving spirit shone through. Six months has flown by and newborn George is back for his 6-month session. I can't believe how much he has grown! For fun we put him in the same bowl as his newborn photos, and my - what a difference now that's over 20 pounds! I was recently invited capture some generational portraits at a surprise birthday luncheon for the mother of one of my clients. Grandma had seen the large wall prints from Bowen's 6 month session and was apparently so jealous she threatened to steal them, so mom thought it would be a good idea to get her some portraits of her own as a birthday present :)

Cake smashes are a great way to capture that incredible time where your baby is becoming a toddler. Plus they are so fun - when else is it OK to throw food and put your feet on your plate? Owen here was a little slow to warm up to the cake - he started by picking off all the little polka dots on top - but then once he dug in, there was no stopping him! Mooresville Child Photographer - {Giving is Great!}

This holiday season I decided to donate 10% of each mini session I booked to a cause for children. I'm so proud to say that 17 families have helped give an incredible gift to the children of Honduras! They will be receiving these shoeboxes filled with items like toys, toiletries, crayons and books as part of an outreach through the Cove Church in Mooresville. Mission teams will take these shoeboxes and many others into the poorest parts of the country, where many live on less than $2 a day.

Mooresville Family Photographer - {Wall Displays}

At one of my recent sessions I had the chance to view the wall displays we created after a client's newborn session. We had 2 framed 11x14 prints at the top of the stairs, and a grouping at the bottom with a 10x20 standout and 2 framed 5x7 prints. In their home office, we designed a ledge of multiple-sized prints. This kind of design allows for the client to easily swap out photos as their little man grows. I just love how the images are being displayed for them to enjoy every day! The response to my fall mini sessions was overwhelmingly successful - so I am considering offering one more last-chance date of minis on Dec. 4th. 30-minute outdoor sessions will be held in the Huntersville area from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

These sessions would include 8-10 edited images on CD and online slideshow for $100 plus tax paid at time of booking. Optional holiday card digital file add-on for $35 can be purchased at session or after images are posted. Go green and send e-cards or have your file printed at the lab of your choice. Up to 4 people are included in the session fee.

Because this is so close to the holidays, and to make sure everyone gets their files in time for the holidays, I am only going to open it for 4 spots. I need at least 3 families to book in order to make this happen.

If you would like to take advantage of this please email me at info@marinmasonphotography.com and indicate which of the four slots you would like (9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30). Once I have commitments from 3 families I will send out PayPal invoices to finalize your spots.

It has been a thrilling year of portfolio-building for me and I am so blessed to have had such wonderful clients who have helped me grow my business beyond my wildest expectations in the past year. I am so excited to announce that I am now booking sessions for 2011 and beyond only. I am completely booked (overbooked in fact!) for the remainder of 2010!

I do have 4 remaining spots for the Fall mini sessions on Oct. 23 - at 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Other than those minis, I am unable to squeeze in any more sessions for the remainder of 2010 (other than those prepaid or already scheduled) in order to maintain my high customer service expectations. I am extending the 30% off portfolio-building pricing to all orders placed prior to Dec. 31, at which point I will be discontinuing my portfolio-building discounts. Mooresville Family Photographer - {Sweet Blessings}

I am so honored to have been able to do this session for J this week. B is in foster care with J and M, who are fostering to adopt. After having B for 4 months, he went back to court the day after these were taken and is being moved to a biological family member. J and M are heartbroken as they thought this was going to be their forever baby. You can totally see the connection between them in these photos - B is so clearly adored and loved by J and M. J knew they might lose custody when we did these pictures, but she wanted something to remember B by - and to give him a birthday cake smash and portraits so he'd know that someone loved him enough to do that. Huntersville Newborn Photographer - {Buckeye Baby}

I knew I was in for a treat when I walked into the S family's home and saw Ohio State Buckeyes gear. I'm a Buckeye by marriage so I felt an immediate connection with this lovely couple, their absolutely adorable newborn baby girl Hudson and their dog Espy. At 11 days old Hudson was more awake than most newborns I've worked with lately. This turned out well, though, given that mom and dad wanted more lifestyle shots. My goal was to capture this couple throughout their home as they interacted with Hudson. It was so obvious to me how much these new parents just dote on their baby girl. Mooresville Family Photographer - {Flush-mount Albums}

I recently ordered a sample flush-mount album to show my clients what amazing things we can do with their portraits. These albums are so luxurious and really an heirloom piece. They come in many cover options, from leather to fabric to a custom photo cover, and they're padded for extra plushness. Inside, the pages are rigid to give the photos weight. They are specially coated so fingerprints won't show either (a biggie for me, since I want people to look at my albums!). Another difference between these and press-printed coffee books is that the image spans the entire two-page spread, so there's no gap down the center crease. They come in 6x6, 8x8 and 10x10 sizes. They can be custom designed or they are available as in the Simplicity series with just your image and a black, white or color-coordinating mat around the photos. These albums are a bit more pricey than the press-printed coffee books but all you have to do is feel it to know why. Troutman Baby Photographer - {Surfer Girl}

I'm back from a vacation in the rustic peace and quiet in Vermont and just couldn't wait to get back to editing this sweet little girl's session. It was such a treat to have both parents' moms in for the portraits and do some multigenerational shots for the baby book! N and J were so laid back and had thought of lots of little mementos that were important to them to include in the pictures - gifts from family members and coworkers, a stuffed bear from Australia (were J is from), and even a custom-made surfboard made by daddy for his little girl. I had the pleasure of meeting the C family today and their baby girl. Not even a week old, baby Kynedi was just a dream to work with! Mom and dad had thought of lots of things we could include in her newborn photos to make them special and unique. I can't wait to share the ones of the surfboard her dad made for Kynedi's room! And even more special was that both their mom's were there to share in the C family's excitement. I had a hard time choosing just two for the sneak peek, but settled on these two. Got to work with one of my favorite families again this week. Miss B has been coming to me for pictures since she was just a wee babe. She and my son and are only 2 weeks apart and are BFFs.
